Our Technique
The technique PawdyGene applied is the most advanced DNA sequencing method, Whole Exome Sequencing (WES). WES has been always used in human DNA testing. PawdyGene is the first to apply WES in pet DNA testing.
Your Pawdy’s Full Story Starts With Us
What is Whole Exome Sequencing (WES)?
Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) is a targeted next-generation sequencing method that identifies all protein-coding genes (exons) in the genome. These regions contain largest genetic variants. It has been widely used in human DNA testing and research centers.
To simplify, it is a rapid way to sequence large amounts of DNA information. For example, imagine that every gene is a theme park. Traditional genotyping technology (ex: microarray) analyses your gene by targeting at a few attractions. However, with WES technology, it analyses your gene by targeting all the attractions in the theme park.
PawdyGene is the first to use WES in pet DNA testing. This is the main strength that differentiates PawdyGene from other brands.
WES VS Microarray
Differences | Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) | Microarray |
---|---|---|
Definitions | A process of determination of the complete DNA sequences | A process of detection of gene expressison of pre-defined genes |
Results | Identifies all sequences in a genome | Identifies the presence of pre-defined sequences |
Sampling Data Volume | A few GB | Dozens of MB |
Computing Power | Generates a huge amount of data and needs relevant computing power | Defines presence/absence of pre-defined sequences and does not require significant computing power |
Ability To Detect New Mutations? | Yes | No |
